The Pipil people live in western part of El Salvador, mainly in the area between Sononate
and Santa Ana.

It is reckoned that the Pipils arrived in El Salvador between 900 and 1300 AD.
They came from Mexico, fleeing from Olmeca persecution.

Like most cultures, the Pipils like music and love to sing. Some traditional Pipil
instruments are still in use today.

The Pipil dances that remain today mainly originate from the time of the Spanish Conquest.
They re-enact the battles that took place between the Spanish and the Moors in Spain.
