I will shortly compile a number of projects. Check back later for details.

1. Google Fusion Tables (GFT)

Use GFT to visualise data on the Cloud. This type of project is suitable for EC4 or CASE3 students. It will involve moving a large dataset to the Cloud and performing a number of visualisations.

2. Transport For Ireland

This is a Smart City project where we capture data such as rail, flight, bus etc., merge the data into a single dataset and run a seris of queries over the data. This will require the student(s) to build a data harvester (web scraper) to pull the data every few minutes, and form a data warehouse with the data. As data is likely in be in XML format, we will need to run XQuery to extract infrmation from these large datasets.

Suitable for CASE4 or 2 x CASE3 students.

3. World bikes

We have an application that harvests data from 11 cities around the world, based on their bicycle rental schemes. This is now 10Gbs in size and is stored in an XML database (XHive). We require a team of 2 CASE students to build data cubes from this large dataset.
