CASE3 student Paul Bunbury is missing since Thur 2 Feb 2012.

He is a great coder. See DCU page and boards.ie page.
He won major coding contests in 2010 and 2011.
He is author of the brilliant "FloodItWorld".
DCU can confirm that in Jan 2012 he passed all 6 modules comfortably.


Lab - Shell

Shell scripts

  1. make a "bin" directory for your scripts, if such does not exist:
    • mkdir bin

  2. hide directory from others
    • chmod go-rwx bin

  3. Put $HOME/bin in the PATH, if not already in it.

  4. Edit some Shell scripts in $HOME/bin

  5. For example, make a program called "d" - detailed ls
    • ls -l $*
    • $* means all arguments that are passed to this script

  6. make prog executable
    • chmod +x d

  7. Run it.
    • d
