Meetings

The Irish Branch of the Society of Recorder Players meets every month from September to June in Booterstown Community Centre, Booterstown, Co. Dublin, near the centre of Dublin. We meet on the third Saturday of each month, except when this might cause problems for members, e.g. major public holidays such as Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. (See the Programme of meetings for exact dates.)

Meetings run from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, and are organised in three playing sessions: roughly 2:30 - 3:15, 3:15 - 4:15 and 4:30 - 5:30. One piece of music is worked on and played during each session. Here is the Playing Schedule for Spring 2013.

There is a break for tea (50c), chat and announcements between 4:15 and 4:30.

Visitors are always welcome - regular attenders usually become members.

Music is provided and players normally bring their own music stands.

SRP Festival 2013

The Annual SRP Festival of recorder playing will be held in Dublin in May 2013. More details here.

Other Activities

We generally run one playing weekend during the year. These are conducted by an SRP conductor, or by a local visiting conductor. They consist of a series of playing sessions from Saturday morning to Sunday evening.

We run one or two one-to-a-part playing days during the year. These are usually on a Sunday, and last all day. The next one will be on 24th. March 2013.

We do not run the Irish Recorder and Viol Course every year in the third weekend of August, but members of the branch are heavily involved and a large proportion of the membership attends each year.
