Project ideas 2011-12

1. Online dating with Apache Mahout

Use Apache Mahout to build an online dating system. You can find out about
Mahout at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-mahout/.

2. On the fly audio recording

Sometimes when listening to the radio on my computer I would like to be able
to hit a button and have whatever I am currently listening to be written to
an audio file for later playback. Develop an application that allows me to
do this (or tell me about one that does it already).

3. Scrabble

I am unable to find a free Scrabble Android app. Develop one.

4. iptables

Occasionally my machine receives unsolicited network connection attempts.
Rather han have them hidden away in a log file I would like to have an
alter sent to my desktop when this happens. Develop the application to
do this.
