Research Interests

I am a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing at Dublin City University. I'm also involved in the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre Lero, the Lero Graduate School in Software Engineering LGSSE, and the Centre for Next Generation Location CNGL.

I'm heading a Software and Systems Engineering group with currently seven researchers. My main area of research interest is currently Web and Software Engineering.The central objective is the development and application of software engineering technologies for Web-based software systems - combining classical software engineering and knowledge engineering techniques with domain-specific solutions. This ranges from foundational frameworks for Web-based software development to domains-specific software development techniques and methods.The systems engineering perspective, addressing a holistic perspective of software and the systems environment it is embedded in, is of particular importance.I am also a member of the Dependable Systems Group.

Current extensions of the Web platform - in particular the Web Services Framework and the Semantic Web - are core elements of my research. The composition of services in service-orientedarchitectures is an area that joins both directions.

I am particularly interested in domain engineering for the Web environment. The application of Web and software technologies for the development and deployment of learning technology systems is the main focus.
