Research Summary

My research is in the areas of Multimedia Information Retrieval, Digital Memories and Mobile Device Access. My phd research was focused on methods of exploiting linkage densities in WWW graphs to improve ranking in Search Engine results. Since my PhD I have worked within the CDVP & AIC initially developing multimedia search engines for image and video. In recent years I have become interested in Human Digital Memories and have worn a SenseCam since June 2006 (capturing 1.7 million photos as of Feb 2008). Also, I have an interest in Human Computer Interaction, especially for mobile devices.

In December 2007 I began a five-year SFI funded Stokes lecturship, at the school of Computing at DCU. I think it is important to constantly revaluate my performance as a lecturer and educator, and therefore i have always endevoured to perform Student Surveys Of Teaching after every module I teach. More details of current and previous lecturing can be found on my lecturing page.
