1998 IBM-DCU All Ireland Schools Programming Competition
The final round of the competition took place on Jan 31st and Feb 1st at Dublin City University.
Fifty students took part in the two day event, each solving difficult programming
problems on a computer.
This decided the team that was selected to go to the International Olympiad in
Informatics. And the team is:
- Robert Beattie, Belfast
- James Martin, Clare
- Ciaran O Conaire, Dublin
- Oisin Suttle, Dublin
These contestants solved all the problems, but only Robert's worked for
all the test cases.
The first and second
day results show how close the competition at the top was.
Also available are the day 1 problems
and day 2 problems (both in MSWORD 97 format)
and test data.
Following numerous requests (well maybe one), the problems were converted
to HTML using the word converter (which unfortunately lost some bits) so here is
day1 and day2.
The round 1 questions were
done at home to select students for the final at DCU.
On Sep 12th we went to the IOI in Portugal.
