Guest Lectures \ Talks
We frequently ask people to come talk to our staff on research matters or to our students and staff on issues of general interest to the community in the School of Computer Applications. Anyone can approach us if they want to come see us, just
drop me a line or approach any other member of academic staff.
Sean Joyce of Iona Technologies visited us on Tuesday 3rd March 1999. Sean gave the undergraduate, postgraduate students and the staff a talk on his experiences of software development. He particularly addressed the issue of debugging.
Sean has recently had a book published by Addison Wesley The book, on which Sean is a joint author is titled "COM-CORBA Interoperability (Microsoft Technologies Series)" ISBN: 0130962775
You can see a description of the book (plug!) You can read a review of it from Dr. Dobbs (major plug….. PLUG!).
Of course you will realise by now that Sean must be a graduate of the School, and indeed you are right, he graduated in 1991.
Joe Kiniry, a PhD candidate from Caltec visited us on 26th November 1998. Joe is the moderator of the Distributed Coalition. I met Joe at OOPSLA'98
where he ran a workshop on Modelling Dynamic/Emergent Distributed Object Systems .
More to come !
