Transferring from Enterprise
Computing to Computer Applications
There are different kinds of computing degrees, and students often find it difficult to know which
option suits them best before they begin their college course. DCU is unique, however, in that you can
transfer between this programme and the B.Sc. in Computer Applications
by the end of first year.
The B.Sc. in Enterprise Computing (EC for short) and the B.Sc. in Computer Applications (CA for short)
are aligned in first year so that it is possible for students to transfer from the EC degree to the CA
degree and vice versa. SEE CONDITIONS FOR TRANSFERRING DEGREES IN PARAGRAPH BELOW
This means that if you are unsure as to whether you will like the IT business aspect you can try it
out in the EC degree first and decide whether it suits you or not. If not and you've decided you like
the programming modules, you have the option of transferring to the CA degree which has more emphasis
on programming and the technical side of things and much less emphasis on the management and business
aspects of IT.
PLEASE NOTE CONDITIONS FOR TRANSFER: EC students may transfer to the CA degree at the end of Semester
one provided they have taken the option of the module Programming 1. Transfers from the EC to the CA
degree after Semester one will be conditional on the student obtaining 10 credits in the module Programming
2 (from the CA curriculum).
