Transferring from Computer Applications to Enterprise
Computing
There are different kinds of computing degrees, and students often find it difficult to know which
option suits them best before they begin their college course. DCU is unique, however, in that you can
transfer between this programme and the B.Sc. in Enterprise Computing
by the end of first year.
The B.Sc. in Computer Applications (CA for short) and the B.Sc. in Enterprise Computing (EC for short)
are aligned in first year so that it is possible for students to transfer from the CA degree to the EC
degree and vice versa. SEE CONDITIONS FOR TRANSFERRING DEGREES IN PARAGRAPH BELOW
This means that if you are unsure as to whether you will like programming you can try it out in the
CA degree and decide whether it suits you or not. If not, you have the option of transferring to the
EC degree which has much less emphasis on programme and more emphasis on the management and business
aspects of IT.
PLEASE NOTE CONDITIONS FOR TRANSFER: CA students who wish to transfer to the EC programme at the
end of Semester one may do so without condition. Students who transfer to the EC degree at the end of
Semester two may do so, but will be expected to obtain five credits in the module Introduction to Marketing
during their remaining three years.
