Fees & Requirements
Fees & Funding Support
This programme will be supported by the HEA under the Information Technology
Investment Fund resulting in a reduced fee for European Union Students but this decision
is subject to review each year. For the academic year 2008/2009 the fees payable per annum
by EU students were reduced to €1,750. These fees are subject to an annual
review.
The flexible progression routes, short of the full Masters programme e.g. Grad
Diploma; individual modules, will be supported on a pro-rata basis.
Non-E.U. students can contact the university's
Finance Office for any
further information on fees.
Programme Entry Requirements
The normal entry criterion to the Masters or Graduate Diploma programmes is a first class or higher
second honours degree in an appropriate discipline. While entrants will have different strengths depending
on their primary discipline, it is required that all direct entrants have adequate prior computer programming
experience and, as a minimum, have successfully taken Mathematics or Applied Mathematics courses at second
year university undergraduate level or equivalent. Normally, graduate certificate students must have a
second class Honours degree, or a degree and extensive experiential training in a relevant area. In addition,
consideration will be given, subject to interview, to candidates with other backgrounds, particularly those
with relevant experiential, professional expertise. Applications for entry to individual modules will be
considered on a case-by-case basis.
It will be required of graduates who do not have a sufficient software engineering or mathematical
background to undertake additional training before entering the Masters programme. In general, prospective
candidates should check, in advance, the adequacy of proposed "qualifying" training with the programme board
chairperson.
