Employers Come in their Droves to View the Faculty of Engineering and Computing Final Year Projects Expo 2012

 There was a great buzz on Campus this week when the final year students from the Faculty of Engineering and Computing participated in a hugely successful event in the Helix.  The Expo 2012, gave the students the opportunity to showcase the work they had completed for their final year project (FYP) assignments and to demonstrate their achievements to invited corporate guests from the ICT sector.

DCU-Paris 13 Team excels in Google Parsing Challenge

Researchers at DCU School of Computing have proved that they are masters of automatic language analysis by winning an international parsing competition organised by Google. The DCU team, along with a research collaborator from Université Paris 13, beat other world-class institutions to win the SANCL 2012 Shared Task competition with their top-ranked parsing system.

The All-Ireland Schools Programming competition was held in the School of Computing, DCU on Saturday, 12th May. This is the premier second-level computer programming competition which pitches the best young programmers from around the country in order to select the Irish team for the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI2012).

The competition consisted of two rounds with the first round done at home or at school, and the final round held in the School of Computing, DCU. The problems are graded with the first round entry being relatively easy, to more difficult programming challenges on competition day. Students completed these challenges over a four hour period with the first four students to finish all problem qualifying for the prizes.

We are delighted to announce Tuesday 29th May 2012 as the date for our Final Year Projects Expo 2012, at 8am in the Helix. This year, the School of Computing, the School of Electronic Engineering and the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering will participate in our Expo.  You will also have the opportunity to meet our first final year Enterprise Computing students who will showcase their projects.
