Software Donation by SAS

The DCU Educational Trust is delighted to announce the donation by SAS of a significant gift of software to the University valued in excess of £1.2 million - the most substantial gift SAS has ever made to a University in Ireland. This software will help benefit a great number of DCU students and faculty over the coming years and the Trust is very pleased that SAS decided to make such a valuable investment in the University's academic activities.

SAS is the world leader in business intelligence software and services, enabling customers to turn raw data into usable knowledge. Founded in 1976, SAS serves more than 37,000 business, government and university sites in 111 countries.

SAS comprises of a number of modules:-

Base SAS

epicenter of SAS solutions is Base SAS software, which provides tools essential for mastering the four data-driven tasks common to virtually any application: data access, management, analysis and presentation

SAS/STAT

SAS/STAT software, an integral component of the SAS System, provides extensive statistical capabilities with tools for both specialized and enterprise-wide analytical needs. Ready-to-use procedures handle a wide range of statistical analyses, including analysis of variance, regression, categorical data analysis, multivariate analysis, survival analysis, psychometric analysis, cluster analysis, and nonparametric analysis.

SAS/FSP

SAS/FSP software goes beyond data manipulation. It lets you interact with your data using integrated tools for data entry, computation, query, editing, validation, display, and retrieval.

SAS/GRAPH

SAS/GRAPH software provides information and presentation color graphics capabilities to produce a wide variety of business charts, plots, and maps in many colors and patterns.

SAS/AF

This interactive applications development environment lets you harness the power of the SAS System for data access, management, analysis, and presentation. Use SAS/AF software to create user-friendly interactive windowing applications that give users quick, easy access to current information. Develop point-and-click applications that can be invoked using only a mouse or function keys.

SAS/IML

SAS/IML software provides a powerful and flexible matrix programming language in a dynamic, interactive environment for programmers, statisticians, and researchers. You can use the SAS System for data manipulation and statistical analysis, then employ the SAS/IML matrix language for more specialized analyses and exploration.

SAS/INSIGHT

SAS/INSIGHT software, a component of the SAS System, is a dynamic tool for exploring and analyzing your data. With it you can examine univariate distributions, visualize multivariate data, and fit models using regression, analysis of variance, and the generalized linear model.

SAS/ACCESS

The SAS/ACCESS interfaces are the foundation for our data access solution. These interfaces enable your SAS solutions to read, write, and update data regardless of its native database or platform(SAS/Access for PC File Formats, SAS/Access for ODBC, SAS/Access for Sybase & SQL Server.

SAS/ASSIST

SAS/ASSIST software provides a task-oriented visual interface to the SAS System. Anyone who wants to use the SAS System--regardless of their experience level--has a personal gateway to productivity and task completion

SAS OnlineTutor

SAS now puts training directly on your desktop with SAS OnlineTutor Software (for Version 8), requiring only a Web browser.

SAS/ETS

With the powerful tools of SAS/ETS software at your command, you can analyze or predict processes that take place over time. SAS/ETS software provides tools for forecasting future values of time series, ranging from the very simple to the very advanced. Use simple forecasting methods such as regression, trend extrapolation, exponential smoothing, and Winters method, as well as more sophisticated methods such as autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA or Box-Jenkins) modeling.

SAS/OR

SAS/OR software, an integrated component of the SAS System, brings together essential tools for the operations research analyst and the project manager including network simulation.

SAS/QC

SAS/QC software, a fully integrated component of the SAS System, provides point-and-click interfaces to guide you through standard statistical quality control applications and design of experiments.

Enterprise Miner

Enterprise Miner helps you reveal trends, explain known outcomes, predict future outcomes and identify factors that can secure a desired effect -- all from collected demographic data and customer buying patterns.

Enterprise Guide

Business analysts and SAS programmers can tap the full power of the SAS system using an easy to use, task based, Microsoft familiar graphical user interface. This Windows client connects to any Version 8 SAS System Server and allows users to access any data types supported by the SAS System, utilize the execution power of that machine to run any SAS processes, and return professional reports and graphics to your PC.

Risk Dimensions

Risk Dimensions is the SAS Institute solution to firm-wide risk management. Risk Dimensions provides a single, comprehensive risk management environment for: Data Management,Risk Analysis and Risk Reporting

CFO Vision

CFO Vision is the SAS integrated business solution for financial consolidation, analysis and reporting. It integrates data management and financial intelligence with online analytical processing, allowing you to view your business from any perspective: customer, product line, geographic site, currency or other category

IT Service Vision

IT Service Vision from SAS is an all-encompassing, enterprise-wide approach to IT service reporting.

WebHound

Every visit to a Web site leaves a trail with the potential to tell you how visitors use your site, and whether your site is delivering exactly what visitors want to see. WebHound lets you follow that trail -- and determine which pages attract the most visitors, points at which potential customers leave your site, and more.

SAS/Warehouse Administrator

SAS/Warehouse Administrator is designed for the IT professional responsible for creating and managing data warehouse/data mart processes. SAS/Warehouse Administrator is a customizable solution that offers a single point of control, making it easier to respond to the ever-changing needs of the business community.

To enable DCU build a clear picture of academic requirements, we invite prospective SAS users to e-mail any SAS software requirements which they may have to their local systems administrators (see below). We realise that requirements may not be firmed-up at this stage but even tentative information would be helpful to our planning process. It would be very helpful if SAS functions/modules could be specified with the DCU courses & modules which might use them. The information specified will also assist us in defining staff training requirements
