Essay competition for the scholarships
donated by the
Microsoft European Product Development Centre

The following essays were the two winners in a competition for the scholarships donated by the Microsoft European Product Development Centre. The EPDC has kindly offered to give prizes of £1000 to each of two students selected from the second year of the Computer Applications degree. All students who got a First in their exams last year were invited to write an essay of up to 5000 words on the topic "Computing in the Year 2050".  All the entries recieved were of very high quality and they were judged by a group of staff members of the School of Computing.

The winners were Mark Boyle and Paul Matteucci.
