Digital Video Processing: (17th February '00)  

In a competitive internal screening process, the Centre for Digital Video Processing was recently awarded "University Designated Research Centre" status.   This centre involves Prof. Alan Smeaton's Multimedia Information Retrieval research group and the Visual Media Processing group of Drs. Noel Murphy, Sean Marlow and Noel O'Connor in the School of Electronic Engineering.  These researchers have been collaborating for some years in the area of indexing and browsing of digital video.
