Anderson Prize: (4th Sept '01)
Following the presentations of the MECB/MECT practicums on August
30th, the Arthur Anderson prize was awarded to Rory, Peter, David
and Tommy for their project "MobiGT in association with Fundamo
- Mobile Payment Mechanism".

- SAS
Software Donation: (23rd July '01)
The DCU Educational Trust is delighted to announce the donation
by SAS of software valued in excess of £1.2 million to DCU
- the most substantial gift SAS has ever made to a university
in Ireland.

- Físchlár
available in DCU library: (11th July '01)
DCU staff and students can now access digitally archived RTÉ1
main evening news content via the Físchlár system,
from PCs situated in the Information Commons area on the ground
floor of the library. The Físchlár news content
service is a tailored version of Físchár, a web-based
digital video system developed by the Centre for Digital Video
Processing at DCU.

- IEEE
Membership: (9th July '01)
DCU has been added to the IEEE online application form.
Free membership for students is now being offered until 1st August
2001.

- Funding
for DCU research proposals: (22nd June '01)
Two of DCU's research proposals have been approved for funding
under the Research Innovation Fund 2001. Congratulations to those
concerned - Prof. Alan Smeaton for his CEOLAIRE proposal and Prof.
Dermot Diamond for his proposal on the Development and Application
of an Autonomous Device for Environmental Monitoring.

go Clay Pigeon Shooting: (20th June '01)
To celebrate reaching the end of the academic year , all staff
in the School and the Faculty office were invited to a few hours
spent Clay Pigeon Shooting in Courtlough Shooting Club, Balbriggan
followed by a meal in The Coachman's Inn, Swords.
