SSL
- This means that all data to and from web pages and web applications that use the
HTTPS protocol will be encrypted.
- When the site is first accessed using the HTTPS protocol (
https://student.computing.dcu.ie/), a Digital Certificate like the one below will be
presented for acceptance. This is because the Certificate is self-signed by the School of
Computing and not by one of the browsers recognised Certification Authorities like
Verisign or Thawte.
- It is OK to accept this Certificate.
